In this essay, I challenge the notion of world literature as a market commodity in the case of peripheral literatures, they suffer unequal, hegemonic market conditions and power relations and propose instead the idea of world literature as writing and reading practices that move beyond the framework of the national and of Eurocentrism, being molded instead by a critical, planetary consciousness.
